Chelsea host Newcastle United this weekend in the Premier League as they look to get back to winning ways.
They come off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the league in which Nicolas Jackson scored the Blues’ only goal at Anfield on Sunday.
Enzo Maresca’s side faced a midweek challenge in the Europa Conference League in Athens as they played against Panathinaikos and won 4-1 emphatically after goals from Joao Felix, Mykhalio Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku.
The Chelsea boss also has a boost in the form of his side being almost fully fit and healthy ready for the weekend giving him flexibility in his line up decisions. Click here to see our predicted XI for Sunday’s game.
Maresca comes up against Eddie Howe for the first time in his young managerial career as Newcastle come off the back of four winless league games and have slipped down to ninth in the league table.
Despite their recent slide, the Magpies sit just two points behind the Blues ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Chelsea backed to beat out-of-sorts Magpies
Despite their loss against Liverpool last time out, Chelsea are backed as the bookmakers’ favourites against Newcastle.
According to Oddschecker, Chelsea are 5/6 to win which gives them a 54.5% chance of coming away with three points at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Newcastle are backed at 10/3 (23.1%) and a draw at 10/3 also.
We predict a 2-1 Chelsea win in what could be a tough game for both sides, the combination of player quality and home advantage makes us think that the Blues will have the edge here.
