Former Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has said that he wouldn’t play any of Manchester United’s players for Chelsea.
The Blues headed to Old Trafford on Sunday in search of consecutive Premier League wins after a 2-1 win over Newcastle last weekend.
However, they could only manage to pick up a point against Manchester United who interim manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy led. Goals came from Bruno Fernandes and Moises Caicedo as the game ended in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
It places Chelsea in fourth in the league table seven points off league leaders Liverpool and in solid form as they look ahead to a clash against Arsenal in the league next weekend.
Former Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that the Blues are far ahead of Sunday’s opponents in Manchester United and responded when he was asked by Lucky Block if he would take any Manchester United players in the Chelsea XI.
He said: “One United player? At the moment, I wouldn’t take a single one. I think Enzo Maresca has already shown that Chelsea are a club that are progressing under his guidance. Chelsea don’t have anything to fear about this Manchester United team based on the performances that we’ve seen from them this season.”
Chelsea improvement after 10 games compared to last year
The Blues have 18 points from their opening 10 Premier League games which is the same as Arsenal and Aston Villa who both finished above Chelsea last season.
Furthermore, Enzo Maresca’s side have six more points than Chelsea did last season after 10 games as they sat on 12 points and in 11th place in the league table.
They have taken a big step forward which will please the Chelsea boss, however, he will be disappointed that they weren’t able to pick up three points against a Manchester United side who are going through a turbulent time at the moment following Erik Ten Hag’s sacking.
