Chelsea vs Everton Match Preview and Predictions

Chelsea resurrected their poor start to the season by beating Tottenham at Wembley Stadium last Sunday. They host Everton this weekend, a side who look like a real force to be reckoned with after a flurry of new signings.

The Toffees have had an impressive start to their Premier League campaign, most recently drawing with Manchester City at the Etihad. Ronald Koeman’s men will have a real sense of belief that they can upset Antonio Conte’s side, who still face a lot of criticism for their poor outgoing/incoming ratio in the transfer market this summer.

Conte has only one injury doubt, with Eden Hazard still less than 50/50 to return after the Belgian star had ankle surgery earlier this summer. Gary Cahill is still banned after his red card on the opening day, but Cesc Fabregas will return after serving a one-match ban for his red card in the same game.

Ronald Koeman hasn’t got it quite so easy, long-term injuries to Seamus Coleman, Yannick Bolasie and Ramiro Funes Mori remain out of the picture. Ross Barkley and James McCarthy are also out, with Sandro Ramirez a slight doubt for the clash. Morgan Schneiderlin is also unavailable after suspension against Man City.

Chelsea have won seven of their last 10 Premier League meetings with Everton, including both in 2016-17 (W7 D1 L2). The Blues are unbeaten in their last 22 home Premier League games against Everton, a record dating back to November 1994. Chelsea haven’t lost back to back home Premier League games since November 2011, so a loss to the Toffees could really crank up the pressure on Conte.

Everton aren’t huge players against top 6 sides, since 2011 they have won just one of their Premier League away matches against top 6 opposition.

Predicted XI
