Chelsea Vs Borussia Dortmund Champions League: Match Preview & Injury News

After their first Premier League win in what seemed like an eternity, Chelsea will be looking to press on when they play Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League tie.

Chelsea have a slew of players who will miss out on the Dortmund game with injury – including Armando Broja, Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Eduoard Mendy. Silva is perhaps the biggest loss of these four – the legendary defender will likely return in mid-April.

That’s not all – Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta and Mason Mount are all major doubts. It’s likely that all three will miss out on this crucial game – it would be unwise for Potter to field unfit players against such a strong Dortmund side.

To get to this stage, the Blues finished top of their Champions League group which also included AC Milan, RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb. Dortmund, meanwhile, faced an arguably much tougher group – consisting of Manchester City, Sevilla and FC Copenhagen.

Die Borussen are currently enjoying a successful season in the Bundesliga – they’re currently level on points with Bayern Munich and have won 16 of their 23 league games.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have not had the same level of fortune. Indeed, it has been a woeful season for the Blues, picking up losses against Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal (amongst others). However, a strong run in the Champions League could be just what the doctor ordered.

Dortmund won the first leg by a score of 1-0 at the Signal Iduna Park – can the Blues turn the tables at Stamford Bridge?
