Maurizio Sarri’s men couldn’t break down a stubborn Saints side, and they’ll likely have to play against a Nottingham Forest team tomorrow who will try and do the same thing.

The Blues will still be without Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman injured his ankle against Crystal Palace and, while the injury is not as bad as first feared, he will be sidelined for at least another week.

Pedro is still unavailable due to a hamstring injury but has an outside chance of being fit for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Tuesday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring), Willian (knock) and Mateo Kovacic (illness) could all be back in contention for tomorrow’s game.

Forest head into the encounter at Stamford Bridge off the back of an important 4-2 win over Championship league leaders Leeds. The result has eased the pressure on Aitor Karanka who has overseen an underwhelming start to the season after significant summer investment.

Their ability to keep out Chelsea may be curtailed by an injury crisis in defence. Michael Hefele is struggling to be fit due to an Achilles problem, Tobias Figueiredo is suffering from a dead leg while Michael Dawson is out with a hamstring strain. It could be mean Danny Fox being partnered by midfielder Claudio Yacob in defence. Hillal Soudani is also out injured.
