Chelsea v Liverpool – Match Preview And Predicted XI

Chelsea v Liverpool – Match Preview And Predicted XI

Chelsea’s will face Liverpool for the second time in the space of a few days tomorrow evening. Their victory at Anfield in the Carabao Cup will no doubt give Maurizio Sarri’s side an important confidence boost heading into the match.

However, both teams are likely to make sweeping changes as they reinstate their first team regulars for the game at Stamford Bridge.

Kepa, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud are likely to return to the starting lineup. However, Antonio Rudiger (groin), Pedro (shoulder) and Andreas Christensen (illness) are doubts for the game.

The Danish defender had to be taken off against the Reds on Wednesday after feeling unwell, and he would be the favourite to replace Rudiger alongside David Luiz if the German doesn’t recover in time from the injury he sustained against West Ham last week.

Gary Cahill could deputise, while Willian will likely keep his place in the team if Pedro isn’t fit enough to start against Liverpool. For the Reds, only James Milner and Sadio Mane are likely to keep their places from the cup exit midweek.

However, Virgil van Dijk is a doubt for the game against the Blues due to a bruised rib. He was taken off in the 3-0 victory over Southampton last weekend and didn’t feature on Wednesday night. Adam Lallana, meanwhile, is on the comeback trail, taking part in training as he recovers from a groin strain.

Here’s how we think Chelsea will line up against Liverpool

Kepa

Azpilicueta, Cahill, David Luiz, Alonso

Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic

Hazard, Giroud, Willian

Predicted Score – 2-2
