Why Chelsea Should Sign This UNDERRATED Ex-Premier League Star Instead Of Moises Caicedo

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Moises Caicedo very strongly in recent weeks – however, we feel they should opt to sign Leeds United’s Tyler Adams, instead.

Despite the Whites’ relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2022/23 Premier League season, Adams was consistently one of their best player. Without him, Leeds’ fate may have been sealed much earlier.

We feel that Chelsea should shelve their efforts to sign Caicedo in favour of a move for the USMNT international – in this piece, we’ll explain why.

Why would Tyler Adams be a better option than Moises Caicedo?

Adams is not a superior player to Caicedo in any regard. The Brighton man is more physical, more energetic and a better defender – however, Adams is arguably a better passer than Caicedo is.

This aside, the Seagulls are commanding an astronomical fee of £100 million to secure Caicedo’s services – meanwhile, Adams could be purchased for a fraction of this price.

While Chelsea have no end of financial resources, being one of the richest clubs in world football, they are still bound by the same financial fair play rules as every other club in the Premier League.

Taking their profligate spending over the past couple of years into account, they are already walking a tightrope when it comes to FFP – as such, it would be beneficial if they were to approach transfer windows with a more frugal attitude for now.

Additionally, Adams is a fine player who will fit into Mauricio Pochettino’s 4-3-3 system with ease. This is a case where Chelsea do not need to spend a massive amount of money, as a perfectly adequate (not to mention cheaper) option is available to buy.

Who else, besides Chelsea, are interested in a deal for Tyler Adams?

Chelsea are far from the only club who have been linked with a move for the Leeds midfielder. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United have all reportedly registered an interest in the player during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Newcastle are unlikely to make a move, following their capture of Sandro Tonali – the other three clubs in that list could pose a serious threat, however.
