Chelsea Told They Have A “75% Chance” Of Landing Next Signing After Hato

Chelsea have a “75% chance” of securing the signature of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said the Blues are still confident that an agreement can be reached with Leipzig but two factors are currently holding up the move:

“They want Xavi Simons, advanced talks. Before closing the deal, they want to make sure they complete some outgoings, but it’s not something in real danger at this point.”

“The price tag is an important point, Leipzig keep asking for important money, but Chelsea want to pay less. The deal remains on! Simons to Chelsea now has a 75% chance of happening. The conversation is going very well between Chelsea and Leipzig for Simons.”

How much are Leipzig demanding for Simons?

It is believed that the Bundesliga side are demanding around £60m despite the fact that the Netherlands international has less than two years left on his contract at the Red Bull Arena.

Chelsea are probably banking on other clubs not coming in for Simons as they wait for Leipzig to lower their demands. Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the player but they are said to have prioritised a move for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. That decision has left the way clear for the Blues.

Chelsea are set to seal their 8th summer signing

While negotiations for Simons are ongoing, Enzo Maresca’s side have managed to get an agreement in place for another Dutch player: Ajax’s Jorrel Hato.

The defender is expected to have a medical ahead of completing his £37m (plus add-ons) transfer to Stamford Bridge over the next few days.

Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Mamadou Sarr, Dario Essugo, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro have also been snapped up this summer.
