Chelsea reportedly want to sell seven players in order to bring in RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons this summer.
Enzo Maresca has had a busy summer so far, with the Club World Cup victory, and also a spend of over £200m on the likes of Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Dario Essugo and Estevao Willian.
They already sold Noni Madueke to rivals Arsenal for a fee of around £52m, and they’ve also managed to offload Joao Felix too. However, Maresca would like to bring in another attacker in the form of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, so they may need to sell more names to bring Simons in.
Simons has also been linked to Arsenal, but it is understood that the Gunners are instead prioritising a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. However, even though the Blues have a clear path to sign the Dutchman, he is still expected to cost around £60m, so Chelsea will need to generate more funds by selling some new names.
Chelsea want to sell these seven players
According to a report by the Standard, there are seven players that the Blues want to offload this summer in order to generate more transfer budget, and also ease the pressures on their wage funds too.
Firstly, Raheem Sterling was on loan at Arsenal last year, and failed to make an impact. He was part of Enzo Maresca’s bomb squad last year, and it seems the same this summer as the report says that the Blues want to sell the former Man City star.
Ben Chilwell was also a part of the bomb squad, as he was sent on loan to Crystal Palace last year, where he won the FA Cup. The Eagles could come back in for Chilwell, as his is another of the seven that Maresca wants to sell.
Thirdly, Renato Veiga hasn’t had much of an opportunity since moving to Chelsea, but it seems the Portuguese defenders stay is all but over, as he is generating interest from the Saudi Pro League; Another player Chelsea wants to sell.
Furthermore, Aston Villa loanee Axel Disasi also is set to leave this summer, after he made just seven Premier League appearances for Villa during his six-month loan spell last season. Lesley Ugochukwu was also out on loan last year, he was relegated with Southampton, and the Blues now want to offload the 21-year-old.
Finally, Carney Chukwuemeka and Armando Broja, who were both on loan, but injured last season, make up the list of seven that Maresca wants to sell.
