It would not be a complete surprise if the Blues revive their interest in the Colombian international before the end of the month.
The club entered talks with Aston Villa about signing Duran earlier in the summer, only to be put off by his £40m asking price.
However, after agreeing to pay £34.5m for Omorodion, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to meet Villa’s valuation.
Fans will probably prefer a more experienced player than the 20-year-old, who has mainly been used as a substitute during his 18-month stay in England.
