Arsenal are currently in pursuit of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke in a surprising summer transfer move.
The Gunners are targeting the Blues’ winger, who had a decent season last year under Enzo Maresca, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 45 appearances.
Recent reports have said that Chelsea would be willing to sell the England international for around £52m, but it is not clear yet whether they would be prepared to sell him to Arsenal, as they are a big Premier League rival.
Madueke has reportedly agreed on personal terms and is willing to join the Gunners. It now remains to be seen if Chelsea will accept Arsenal’s offer. However, the Gunners could hand Chelsea a real talent in a potential swap for Madueke.
Arsenal and Chelsea could swap Madueke for Nwaneri
With Arsenal interested in Madueke, there is the potential for a swap deal arising, as recent reports by David Ornstein have suggested that Chelsea holds an interest in Arsenal winger Ethan Nwaneri.
The 17-year-old broke out in Mikel Arteta’s side last year, scoring nine goals, and providing two assists. Ornstein has said: “With Nwaneri, there’s interest building in him, no surprise, you’d be more surprised if there wasn’t. It’s clear that there’s interest on the continent from Germany. Interest from Chelsea.”
With his contract due to expire next summer, Nwaneri could see himself become available, or Arsenal could decide to cash in on the youngster. With that in mind, you can see a swap deal potentially emerging which would see Chelsea sign Nwaneri and Arsenal sign Madueke.
It is a deal that the Blues should pursue, and it makes sense. According to TransferMarkt, Nwaneri has a market value of around £47m, and with Chelsea wanting £52m for Madueke, their values are pretty even.
Furthermore, Maresca would be getting a superb talent, who former Chelsea winger Joe Cole hailed last year whilst on TNT Sports. He said: “These little touches in and around the box … it’s like Lionel Messi. He plays with such confidence, a beautiful player.”
