Chelsea Set To Lose Out On £56.5M Windfall Following Latest Transfer Twist

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has predicted that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will NOT sign for the Bundesliga champions on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

The Senegalese international has moved to the Allianz Arena on loan but there is an obligation to buy under certain conditions. However, Hoeness claims it is highly unlikely that the criteria will be met:

“There will definitely not be a permanent contract. That only happens if he plays 40 games from the start. He will never do that.”

Considering that Bundesliga clubs only play 34 league games, it does seem implausible that Jackson will start 40 times in all competitions, unless star striker Harry Kane picks up a serious injury.

How much would Bayern have to pay?

The purchase clause is reportedly €65m (£56.5m), and that does not include the loan fee that the German side have already shelled out.

Respected journalists have reported the figure as being €16.5m (£14.3m), but Hoeness has also clarified that not all of this fee will be paid by Bayern:

“The player and his agent contribute for €3m, so we pay €13.5m loan fee.”

Jackson could face Chelsea very soon

The Champions League draw saw the Blues drawn against Jackson‘s new club in their first fixture on September 17th. In Europe, there are no rules preventing loanees from playing against their parent club.

That means the 24-year-old could well take to the field when the Blues travel to Germany later this month. It’s expected that Jackson will only be on the bench for the game but an appearance as a substitute is certainly possible.

Fans will be hoping that the forward doesn’t come back to haunt them by getting on the scoresheet in such an important match.
