Chelsea are looking to strengthen in a number of positions this summer, one of which is on the wing. They have shown interest in several players at the position.
Enzo Maresca wants to add more firepower to Chelsea’s attack as they have been targeting young, talented wingers this summer. The Blues are also keen on adding a striker so their attacking players could look very different by the time the Premier League season begins.
One of the bigger names that Chelsea have been linked with is Athletico Bilbao star Nico Williams who finds himself a wanted man this year.
Liverpool, Arsenal, and Barcelona among others are Chelsea’s competition for the 21-year-old Spaniard who impressed at Euro 2024.
Reports suggest that Chelsea is looking to make Williams their next big signing but will have to fight off Barcelona who are also pursuing him.
Chelsea open talks with Leeds United star
The Blues’ next target is Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. The Dutch winger had a formidable season for Leeds United last year, helping them to an appearance in the Championship playoff final where they fell to Southampton.
He scored 20 goals in 46 games and recorded nine assists for Leeds, showing his quality and confirming Chelsea’s view that he is a capable Premier League-level player.
Over the past few months, interest has been reported from Liverpool, Newcastle United, PSG, and Bayern Munich for the Championship Player of the Season, however, no formal bids have yet been made.
Chelsea’s alternative to Michael Olise
After the Blues lost out to Bayern Munich to land Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, they began showing interest in Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma instead.
The 27-year-old had a fantastic season last year, he was one of the Seagulls’ best players and has been over the past two seasons.
However, concerns have arisen over his health due to the winger experiencing several injury problems over the past few months which could put Chelsea in doubt over signing him.
