REPORT: Nkunku’s Agent Offers £30M Rated Swiss International To Chelsea

Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi has been offered to Chelsea, according to TEAMtalk.

Agent Pini Zahavi, who also represents Christopher Nkunku, is believed to have mentioned Elvedi’s name in “conversations” with the Blues recently.

Elvedi has joined Zahavi’s Gol International agency as he has ambitions of making the switch to England during the January transfer window.

Gladbach are not expected to provide much resistance if they receive an offer for the centre-back, with TEAMtalk claiming that he could be sold for around £30m.

Do Chelsea need a player like Elvedi?

It has been suggested that the Swiss international could be signed as a short-term replacement for captain Reece James, who is set to be sidelined for 3 months with a hamstring injury.

However, Elvedi has played the vast majority of his senior football in the centre of defence, with a few games here and there as a right-back.

Undoubtedly, the 27-year-old would add some much-needed experience at the back, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is not exactly short of options at centre-half.

Chelsea have different transfer priorities

While the London club’s defence has been rather poor in recent games, the main problems have been at the other end of the pitch. They have struggled to hit the target despite creating plenty of chances. Their xG is still 6.63 higher than their actual goals scored, demonstrating how wasteful they have been.

It means that the main focus for January will be on recruiting a striker. With Napoli’s Victor Osimhen set to sign a new contract, the Nigerian international is unlikely to make the switch to Stamford Bridge next month.

Even so, there are other options that will be considered, including the likes of Brentford’s Ivan Toney and, potentially, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, who has been linked with the Blues over the past few days.
