REPORT: Chelsea Target Is ‘Open’ To £90M Transfer But Arsenal And Man City Are Also Plotting Bids

Chelsea transfer target Morgan Rogers would consider leaving Aston Villa this summer, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the 22-year-old is “open” to switching teams, although he won’t force a move away from his current club.

For their part, Villa would be reluctant sellers. Rogers has played a key role this season, having scored 14 goals and provided 13 assists in 51 appearances. Unai Emery’s side would be prepared to offload him but only if they receive an offer in the region of £90m.

Rogers has plenty of suitors

Chelsea are by no means the only Premier League club who are interested in the England international. Reports suggest that he has been regularly scouted by newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool.

TEAMtalk say that Arsenal and Manchester City are also keeping close tabs on Rogers, with the forward having come through the latter’s academy before leaving for Middlesbrough.

Chelsea do have close connections with the player

Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent Joe Shields knows Rogers well from his time at City, as does Cole Palmer and (more importantly) head coach Enzo Maresca.

That would indicate Chelsea are in with a chance of persuading him to make the switch to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The £90m price tag is definitely problematic and the Blues will probably be hoping that Villa don’t qualify for the Champions League as it would likely soften the Midlands club’s stance in future negotiations.

From the sound of things, Rogers won’t press for a summer exit, so Maresca’s team would have to put in the groundwork to make this deal happen.

You would think that, considering the position he plays, Christopher Nkunku‘s departure may prove important to any approach for Rogers being made.
