According to reports in Brazil, Chelsea are in talks to sign former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira.
Despite already making five signings, Enzo Maresca is showing no sign of slowing down as Chelsea are looking at Fulham’s Pereira as their next target.
According to Globo, Chelsea have contacted the player and are negotiating terms over a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder has agreed with Fulham that if a reasonable offer for him comes in, he would be allowed to leave. Chelsea are reportedly prepared to pay up to £35 million to land his signature which seems to be a good deal for both sides as his estimated value is around £20 million.
Pereira moved to Fulham in 2022 and has found a home where he gets consistent first-team football. The 28-year-old has made 82 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing 15 assists.
He moved from Manchester United where he spent the early part of his career in United’s youth academy.
Chelsea are also looking to add a winger this summer which means their first team could have a completely different look when the season starts.
A possible replacement for Conor Gallagher
Several reports have suggested that Chelsea are looking to sell midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer to ease some of the FFP pressures.
Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid are all names linked with signing Gallagher, so the Pereira interest could be an indication that the England international is on the move.
Most notably for Gallagher, according to the Metro, Aston Villa has already made an approach for him, however, Chelsea is demanding a fee of at least £50 million.
Chelsea face competition to sign Pereira
The Blues aren’t the only club wanting to land the Brazil international this summer as Monaco has also made an approach to Pereira with the draw of Champions League football.
They finished second in Ligue 1 last season and could provide him with a better chance of winning a trophy. However, according to the Metro, Pereira’s preference would be to stay in London and move to Chelsea.
