Chelsea Target Jorrel Hato Alternative Who Is Up For Sale Just 2 Years After Club Paid €50M For Him

Chelsea are “among” the clubs weighing up a move for Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae, according to reports in Italy.

The German giants signed the South Korean international for €50m from Napoli in 2023, but they have already decided to part ways with the player.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Enzo Maresca’s side, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are all interested in signing Kim this summer.

Out of the three clubs, the Blues may have a trump card to play, with Bayern said to be interested in Renato Veiga.

There is a possibility that the Portuguese international could be offered up as part of the deal, or it maybe the case they end up being two separate transfers.

Chelsea have made enquiries for another centre-half

It has been reported that more conversations have been held about signing Jorrel Hato from Ajax. He is considerably younger than Kim (just 19) but his asking price would be higher.

Ajax are likely to demand upwards of £60m for the Netherlands international, which would make him a lot more expensive than the South Korean.

Kim’s experience would prove invaluable

The 28-year-old has won league titles in three different countries. He lifted the K-League title with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors twice in a row (2016/17 and 2017/18) before he moved to Europe.

After spells in China and Turkey, the defender won the Serie A title with Napoli in 2023 and he was part of the Bayern team that lifted the Bundesliga title a couple of months ago.

The fact that Kim is a right-footed centre-back means he could partner Levi Colwill and offer him some guidance. His arrival would, however, raise doubts about the futures of Wesley Fofana and (potentially) Trevoh Chalobah, so we shall have to wait and see how this transfer sotry develops.
