Chelsea remain “very interested” in Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Turkish international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent months but Romano believes the player wants to stay at Juve:

“If Yildiz had wanted to go to the Premier League, I assure you he could have gone there at the start of the transfer window.”

“Chelsea has always been very interested, and the Premier League’s interest remains because Yildiz is a fantastic player, so it’s normal to see the big clubs paying attention.”

“But Juventus, as you said, is working on a renewal and is optimistic, wanting to find a solution as soon as possible.”

What is Yildiz’s contract situation?

The 20-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer of 2029, so there is no urgency to tie him down to an extension.

However, Juventus are aware of the interest from Premier League teams, and combined with his excellent recent form, the Bianconeri are keen to reward the player as well as to secure a fresh commitment from him to stay in Turin for the long term.

Do Chelsea have a chance of signing him?

As mentioned by Romano, Yildiz has not given any indication up until now that he is interested in moving teams. He is a regular starter for Juve.

However, if negotiations over a new contract don’t reach a successful conclusion, speculation about his future will begin to increase once again.

In the scenario, Yildiz would still not be available on the cheap, both due to the amount of time left on his current deal and the sheer amount of competition for his signature.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the past. Based on reports in Italy, the player could fetch upwards of €100m (£87m).
