Chelsea have “intensified” their attempts to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to RCN Radio reporter Guillermo Arango.
The Colombian journalist says a deal will not be easy to finalise, as the Villans have already rejected an offer from West Ham for the 20-year-old, but it is a transfer that’s being worked on. Fans on X are not happy that Duran appears to be Chelsea’s number one target to strengthen the frontline this month:
Please let’s stop this nonsense

Duran is not exactly a prolific scorer
The Colombian international has scored 4 goals in all competitions this season. Although it should be pointed out that he has only started 7 of the 23 matches he has played in, it is not the track record of a proven goalscorer
While manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be keen on bringing in another forward to add goals to his attack, it appears Chelsea’s recruitment department have other ideas, with Duran being targeted for his potential, rather than because of his current goal return.
Who do fans want Chelsea to sign as their new No.9?
Unsurprisingly, the majority of fans who voted in our poll (click “view results”) want the Blues to buy Victor Osimhen, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney coming in a distant second place.
Osimhen does have a €130m (£111m) release clause but it can only be triggered at the end of the season. That means another forward could be brought in as a stop-gap solution until then.
