“Could Be Done” – Romano Says Chelsea Are Confident Of Sealing 7th Summer Signing For £22M

Chelsea are hopeful of agreeing a fee in the region of €25m (£21m) to €26m (£22m) for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his Daily Briefing column, Romano said that the Blues’ opening bid is not far away from the Dane’s asking price:

“Chelsea offered €20m, and they have a feeling internally that a deal could be done for something like €25-26m. Negotiations are ongoing, but the feeling is positive as Jorgensen already agreed on personal terms with Chelsea – salary, length of contract, everything is okay.”

“So now the clubs are working on the details, but their relationship is very good after they worked on the Nicolas Jackson deal last summer.”

Jorgensen is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge

Based on Romano’s remarks, it appears that this transfer could be wrapped up pretty quickly once Chelsea agree a fee with Villarreal.

It has been reported that Marseille are also interested in Jorgensen but the fact that the keeper has agreed personal terms with the London club does demonstrate he is hoping to seal a a move to the Blues.

Chelsea have already signed six players this summer

It has been a busy transfer window for Enzo Maresca’s side. They have recruited Tosin Adarabioyo (on a free transfer), Kiernan Dewsbury Hall (£30m), Omary Kellyman (£19m), Renato Veiga (£12m), Caleb Wiley (£8.5m) and Marc Guiu (£5m).

Half of those, however, are not expected to be starting games straight away but, if Jorgensen does become the club’s 7th addition, he will undoubtedly be competing for a first-team place.

Robert Sanchez will be his main rival for the No.1 spot, with it being reported that Djordje Petrovic will be let go before the window shuts if a good enough offer is received.
