Journalist Reveals The Tiny Number Of Games That Will See Chelsea Loanee Seal “Permanent Move” To Stamford Bridge

Facundo Buonanotte will secure a “permanent move to Chelsea” if he plays between 10 and 15 games, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

Leeds were also keen on signing the Argentinian international from Brighton before the Blues swooped in, and when asked by Leeds United News why the player decided to join Enzo Maresca’s side on loan when playing opportunities could be so limited, Bailey replied:

“Is it ridiculous that he chose Chelsea? If he plays 10-15 games, he gets a permanent move to Chelsea… This is an audition for him to become a Chelsea player. Chelsea love him as a player.”

“I don’t see any day of the week that Buonanotte would join Leeds over Chelsea. He will play more than you think at Chelsea. We’ll see. It’s the lad’s choice.”

When will Buonanotte make his first appearance?

The 20-year-old was officially signed on Deadline Day so he has had around 10 days at his new club. However, he has not played any competitive matches this season.

Buonanotte could potentially make the bench for the game against Brentford on Saturday evening, but a lot will depend on his fitness, as well as the injury status of others.

Heading into the weekend, there are doubts over Cole Palmer, who has been carrying a groin problem since the start of the campaign. If the 23-year-old is not deemed ready to make his comeback, Buonanotte could be named as a substitute.

Could he secure a permanent switch to Chelsea?

10 to 15 games is not a huge amount, but Buonanotte may be restricted to appearances off the bench in the league and the Champions League. If the Blues were in a different European competition, such as the Conference League or even the Europa League, then there would be scope for him to start more often.

As it is, the Argentine may have to be satisfied with minutes in the domestic cups. It remains to be seen whether that will be enough to get a permanent switch.
