Chris Sutton Says Chelsea Are Right To Sign £30M Striker Instead Of Osimhen For One Important Reason – Exclusive

Ex-Chelsea striker Chris Sutton believes Liam Delap’s “hunger” makes him a better signing for the Blues than Victor Osimhen.

After Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan last summer, having failed to agree personal terms with the Blues, Sutton exclusively told Chelsea News (courtesy of BestBettingSites.co.uk) that he has concerns about the striker’s desire. In contrast, he has nothing but good things to say about Delap:

“I love Delap, I really do. I think he’s been brilliant this season. I think that everything which I’ve seen from him, temperament-wise, he scored goals in a struggling Ipswich team.”

“Left foot, right foot, he’s got pace, he can play with his back to goal. He’s got that arrogance which you need to play at the top level.”

“I know Osimhen is a talented player. That’s only my worry on Osimhen, whether he has that sort of hunger anymore. With Delap, I see a young, hungry player who certainly, Ipswich are going down, but he’s been a shining light in that Ipswich team, so I’d take Delap over Osimhen.”

Delap will cost a lot less to sign than Osimhen

Another factor that cannot be ignored is that the Ipswich striker has a clause which allows him to leave Portman Road for £30m this summer if his team are relegated.

In contrast, Napoli are expected to hold out for a fee in the region of €75m (£64m) for Osimhen, which is more than double what Delap will cost.

Chelsea are involved in a two-horse race to sign the forward

Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims it is “between Chelsea and Manchester United” in terms of who will snap up Delap at the end of the season.

If Enzo Maresca’s side do qualify for the Champions League, you would back them to win the battle for the 22-year-old ahead of their rivals.
