Chelsea would be “willing” to sell Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid as part of a “swap deal”, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Defensa Central claim that the Blues would “accept” the midfielder‘s departure but only if two conditions are met.
They would reportedly demand Eduardo Camavinga in exchange, in addition to a €50m (£44m) transfer fee.
At the moment, Real are not prepared to acquiesce to that request, and there is a feeling at the Bernabeu that the chances of Fernandez moving to La Liga are very low at the moment.
Why do Chelsea want Camavinga?
The France international is believed to have turned down interest from Premier League clubs to join Real in the summer of 2021.
Camavinga has subsequently been a regular starter for the Spanish club over the last four seasons, having won two league titles, two Champions Leagues and several other trophies despite still only being 22 years of age.
He is a dynamic midfielder who can play box to box, and his ability to cover ground does make him very well-suited for English football. However, Real head coach Xabi Alonso does deem him to be a key player, so it’s unlikely he would be swapped for Fernandez.
What has Fernandez said about joining Real Madrid?
When asked about who he plays as on EA FC by journalist Gaston Edul back in May, the Argentinian international replied, “Real Madrid, always Real Madrid.”
That, of course, prompted more speculation that Fernandez would be interested in making the switch to the Spanish capital in the future.
For now, though, it doesn’t seem like a move is a realistic possibility. He remains an integral player for Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who has started him in every fixture so far this season.
