Chelsea have an agreement in place with Strasbourg for striker Emanuel Emegha, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his X account, Romano said that the Blues “will sign” the Netherlands Under 21 international in 2026.
Emegha will put pen to paper on a seven-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2033.
The 22-year-old is keen to help Strasbourg make their mark in the Conference League this season before joining up with his new team next summer.
What do fans need to know about Emegha?
Some sections of the media have already compared him to Didier Drogba, and he has certainly taken the same route to Chelsea, having played in France for the last two years.
Emegha had a decent first season with Strasbourg, scoring 9 goals, but it was his performances last campaign that really attracted the attention of other clubs.
The Dutchman found the back of the net 14 times in Ligue One. He was heavily linked with a transfer to West Ham at the start of the summer, but it soon became clear that he was being lined up for a move to the Blues. He has also started this season in good form, scoring 3 in 4 appearances so far.
Chelsea could do with a striker now
With Liam Delap expected to be out until November with a hamstring injury, head coach Enzo Maresca only has Joao Pedro and Marc Guiu to choose from up front at the moment.
In an ideal world, Maresca would like to have Emegha in his squad much earlier than next year, but the forward will benefit hugely from another season playing as a regular starter for Strasbourg. As mentioned, in addition to playing in France’s top tier, he will gain more experience from playing in Europe for only the second time in his career.
