‘We Are Making A Huge Mistake. I Swear’ ‘He Will Flop’ Fans Not Happy As Chelsea Ponder £68M Transfer

Chelsea would have to pay €75m (£64m) to €80m (£68m) plus add-ons if they want to sign Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Football Italia).

The Blues have been linked with a move for the Serbian international in the Italian press, although other sources have played down any potential approach for the striker. If Mauricio Pochettino’s side do end up going after Vlahovic before the end of the summer transfer window, though, many fans on Twitter believe it could end up backfiring:

Vlahovic could be another Lukaku

Juve signed the 23-year-old only eighteen months ago for a fee that could rise to €80m and, yet, they appear willing to let him leave already.

There are a couple of reasons why Vlahovic has been put on the market. His fitness record has been rather poor, having picked up six separate injuries despite his relatively short stay in Turin.

On top of that, his goal record has been rather average, scoring 23 times in 63 appearances for Juventus. If he does make the switch to Stamford Bridge, there is a danger he could end up flattering to deceive, much like Romelu Lukaku, who was a similarly expensive purchase from Italy.

Would Chelsea have competition for Vlahovic?

The Serbian has been linked to Manchester United, Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain but, there isn’t a great deal of concrete interest in the player.

Chelsea would probably have a clear path to sign Vlahovic if they made an approach but there are justifiable concerns about his ability and price tag.
