Chelsea sign a £40m rated defender

At the time of writing, the Blues are still in negotiations to sign Hato from Ajax, with a fee in the region of £40m likely to be enough to secure his signature. Liverpool and Arsenal were also interested but Enzo Maresca’s side seem to have seen off the competition for the teenager.
Hato did not feature in Ajax’s last friendly against Celtic which suggests he is being protected from injury ahead of a potential transfer.
The Netherlands international can play as both a centre-half and left-back so he will provide competition for Colwill and Marc Cucurella.
