Chelsea could sign a striker in the January transfer window as they are struggling with depth at the position.
The Blues recently lost 2-1 to Sunderland in what was a very disappointing result at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Maresca was forced to start Marc Guiu up front against the Black Cats due to him playing Pedro as a number 10, and due to Liam Delap’s injury.
Chelsea sold Nicolas Jackson in the summer transfer window, and so now find themselves with a lack of depth at the striker position.
There is every chance that they could look to bring in a striker during the January transfer window to help boost their chances of a top-four finish and a profitable Champions League campaign. They may be able to sign one of their former strikers, who could become available on the cheap in the January window.
Chelsea could re-sign Dominic Solanke in January
Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke could find himself being made available in the January transfer window, as he is reportedly out of favour with new Spurs manager Thomas Frank.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham will consider selling Solanke in the summer, despite the fact they signed him in 2024 for £60m. He has struggled to find consistent form, and has also been dealing with injury problems.
Chelsea could look to sign their former academy product, who was at Stamford Bridge between until he joined Liverpool in 2017. Since joining Tottenham, Solanke has scored 16 goals in 48 games, which works out at a goal every three games.
If Spurs are looking to ship him off in January, they could sell him for cheap, and so Chelsea could get themselves some much needed striker depth for a cut-price. His current market value is around £35m, so Chelsea could get a good deal on him.
