Chelsea Weigh Up Summer Swoop For £26M Rated Winger Who Is ‘Destined For Stardom’

Chelsea are “keeping an eye” on Dilane Bakwa at sister club Strasbourg, according to reports in the German media.

Fussballtransfers.com claim that Eintracht Frankfurt are also keen on signing the Frenchman but his €30m (£26m) asking price is deemed to be high.

With that being the case, there is a chance that Bakwa remains at Strasbourg or moves to Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old has had a decent season, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists in 25 appearances.

Based on those figures, it is questionable whether Bakwa is ready to make the step up to the Premier League but his potential is not in doubt.

Bakwa has been likened to Madueke

In their scouting report about the player, the website Breaking the Lines described him as a “precocious young winger destined for stardom”.

It remains to be seen whether he can live up to that hype, but he possesses all the tools necessary to go to the very top.

There are definitely similarities between him and current Chelsea star Noni Madueke. Both are left-footed who prefer to play on the right wing. They are also rough diamonds who need their talents harnessed in the right way.

Chelsea are planning to strengthen the left flank

Although the Blues are said to be in the market for a winger this summer, they are expected to reinforce the opposite wing to where Bakwa plays.

With Mykhailo Mudryk provisionally suspended due to a failed drugs test and doubts lingering over Jadon Sancho’s future, the left flank will be prioritised in the transfer market.

It is believed that Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens are on the club’s radar, while there are also suggestions that a move for Mathys Tel could be revived if Tottenham opt against signing him on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich.
