Desire Doue’s Transfer Stance Revealed As Chelsea Press To Sign £56M Rated Wonderkid Ahead Of Arsenal

Rennes attacking midfielder Desire Doue is not convinced about making a move to Chelsea, according to Le10 Sport.

The French publication have revealed that the Blues are now “pushing” to sign the French teenager but the player has yet to be persuaded that a transfer to Stamford Bridge is the right one for him.

It is believed that Doue is “taking the time to think about” his future, and he won’t make a rash decision on whether he should leave Rennes.

The 19-year-old also has plenty of other suitors, which means that Chelsea may have some work to do in order to get this deal over the line.

Who else is interested in Doue?

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a bid for the France Under 23 international in recent weeks, along with the likes of Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Le10 Sport report that PSG are not expected to firm up their interest, which leaves a switch to either England or Germany the most likely outcome.

How much would Chelsea have to pay for the player?

Another publication, Ouest France, has claimed that Rennes want more than the £56m that Manchester City paid for Jeremy Doku last summer but they don’t necessarily need all the money upfront.

It has been suggested that the Ligue One side would accept an initial fee in the region of €40m (£34m), with the rest being made up of performance-related add-ons and bonuses.

Considering Chelsea would much prefer to pay over several years in order to stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, a bid for Doue does seem realistic based on Rennes’ demands.

The main obstacle standing in the way of a deal is likely to be the player himself, who is clearly not sold on the move yet.
