Rennes will demand “more than” €60m (£51m) for Chelsea target Desire Doue, according to L’Equipe.
The French newspaper claims that the teenager has already been the subject of a €35m (£30m) bid from Bayern Munich but Rennes are looking for almost double that figure. Supporters on X don’t believe Doue is worth the fee being asked for him and some have bemoaned the inflated prices that teams are demanding for players on the transfer market:
That is a lot…

Hudson-Odoi is better and cheaper.

50m serious high but its might look cheap afterwards
I think presently he is 40 45m max

I’ll rather we go for Wesley or Concecaio than spend £50m for Doue.

What do fans need to know about the Chelsea target?
Doue is ostensibly an attacking midfielder but he is both-footed, meaning that he can be deployed on either flank in addition to being played through the centre of the pitch.
Last season, he made the majority of his appearances from the left wing, but his ability to go both ways means he is a tricky player for opposing defenders to handle.
Doue is a player in high-demand
The Blues and Bayern are not the only clubs interested in signing the 19-year-old. L’Equipe report that Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix.
That may be why Rennes have decided to hold out for such a high sum. Considering Chelsea are not exactly afraid of spending big on young players, you wouldn’t put it past them matching his current valuation.
