Chelsea Could Make Surprise Move For Slovakian Star After “Scandalous” Saudi Transfer Decision

Chelsea are back in contention to sign Feyenoord centre-back David Hancko, according to reports.

The Blues were linked with a move to the Slovakian international back in May, but things had gone pretty quiet in recent weeks.

Hancko was actually on the verge of signing for Al-Nassr, until a U-turn was made by the Saudi Pro League side.

The defender was ready to sign on the dotted line and make the switch to the Middle East, only for the deal to be called off at the very last moment.

Feyenoord have expressed outrage at the decision

Speaking out about Al Nassr’s decision to pull the plug, Feyenoord spokesman Raymond Salomon claimed that Hancko arrived at Al Nassr’s training base but, he “was no longer welcome and was not expected at training. This is unheard of and scandalous”.

Feyenoord were expected to receive €33m (£28.6m) from the deal, but the 27-year-old is now back with the Dutch club working on his fitness, with his future far from certain.

It is believed that Al-Nassr have made some changes to their management, which led to the decision to halt the move for Hancko.

Chelsea are among Hancko’s suitors

Tuttomercatoweb.com have named the Blues, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain as the Slovakian’s other potential destinations.

Conincidentally, Atletico are reportedly considering a move for Hancko if they can’t agree a fee with Chelsea for Renato Veiga. The Portuguese international has given his approval to join the La Liga side, but his €40m (£35m) asking price could be a problem.

In terms of Chelsea’s pursuit of Hancko, it remains to be seen how serious their interest is. Reports suggest that Enzo Maresca’s side are in the market for a centre-half, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Ajax’s Jorrel Hato among their other options.

In other news, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a Chelsea target’s £65m asking price could be “reduced”
