25 Goal Italian Ace’s ‘Future Could Be In London’ As Chelsea And Arsenal Battle For £38M Summer Signing

Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui is being targeted by both Chelsea F.C and Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports in Italy.

Calciomercato.com claim that the Italian international’s “future could be in London” with the two Premier League clubs vying for his signature.

Retegui has been in excellent form this season, having found the back of the net 25 times in all competitions for Atalanta.

Unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old is believed to have been the subject of several enquiries, with Calciomercato reporting that his agents have been contacted on multiple occasions in recent months.

How much would Retegui cost?

It is believed that Atalanta may be prepared to sell the 25-year-old for around €45m (£38m), which is a pretty reasonable sum considering his performances.

Retegui is currently miles clear at the top of Serie A’s goalscoring charts, with his nearest competitor Moise Kean having scored 15. The likes of Napoli’s Romelu Lukaku and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez have only bagged 10 goals.

Chelsea are likely to have several targets in mind

The Blues are known to be big fans of Ipswich’s Liam Delap, but he would probably cost a lot more than £38m. The 21-year-old has also only found the back of the net 10 times this season.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is thought to be on the club’s radar too but his release clause may be as high as €80m (£67m) by the summer.

There is always the chance that Enzo Maresca’s side will revive their interest in Victor Osimhen. A move to snap up the Nigerian on loan collapsed last August but he is set to be made available by Napoli for €75m (£63m) at the end of the campaign. Again, though, he would be a lot more expensive than Retegui.
