Romano Claims “Everything Is Ready” For Chelsea To Announce Their Next Signing “Very Soon”

Chelsea are expected to confirm the signing of Santos winger Angelo Gabriel “very soon”, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist told GiveMeSport that “everything is ready” for the Blues to officially announce the arrival of the 18-year-old:

“It’s going to be a six-year deal probably with an option also included for the seventh season, so everything is ready. I think Angelo Gabriel is going to be a Chelsea player and announced as a Chelsea player very soon, but all the documents are signed so it’s just a matter of an announcement.”

Chelsea are set to pay around €15m (£12.8m) for the Brazilian youth international, who has already made 129 senior club appearances despite still being a teenager.

He may not be part of the Chelsea first-team squad next season

It has been reported that Angelo will be sent out on loan to the Blues’ feeder club Strasbourg straight after his move to Stamford Bridge is announced.

Whether that information is accurate, we shall have to wait and see. If he isn’t going to be a regular starter for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, it may be better for the player’s development if he moves somewhere where he can gain more experience.

Angelo’s Career Profile

The Brazilian made his first-team debut for Santos against Fluminense in October 2020, becoming the second youngest player to play for the team at 15 years, 10 months and 4 days.

Over the past two and a half years, Angelo has become a regular starter, scoring his first professional goal against San Lorenzo in the Copa Libertadores, breaking the record for the youngest scorer in the competition.

This season, the teenager has played in a number of positions, including as a wingback, central midfielder and forward, but his most natural position is as a winger, usually from the right flank where he can cut in onto his stronger left foot.
