Chelsea Have 2 Alternatives Lined Up For Victor Osimhen As Nigerian Speaks Out On His Future

Chelsea have identified Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as their two main targets if they fail to land Victor Osimhen, according to TBRFootball.

The website claims that the Blues have been “regularly” checking on the Nigerian international’s performances since his move to Stamford Bridge collapsed.

Osimhen subsequently joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli and he has been in good form with 4 goals and 4 assists in 7 appearances for the Turkish Super Lig side.

There has been speculation that the 25-year-old has a break clause in his agreement with Galatasaray, allowing him to leave in January, rather than at the end of the campaign. However, a new development suggests he won’t be moving teams again until next summer.

Osimhen has confirmed he has no intention of changing clubs

When asked by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu whether he would be at Galatasaray for the second half of the season, Osimhen replied:

“Yes, I am here.”

That seems pretty definitive so it appears that, if Chelsea do want to sign the striker, they may have to wait until July.

Chelsea are keen to sign a new No.9

Despite the fact that Nicolas Jackson is scoring regularly, TBR report that Chelsea’s recruitment department are still hoping to buy a new forward.

As mentioned, though, they are not wedded to the idea of buying Osimhen. The Nigerian would be the cheapest option with his new release clause set at €75m (£62.6m), but Isak and Sesko are also seen as realistic targets.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has revealed contract talks with Isak have stalled so an approach for the Swedish international cannot be ruled out. Sesko could also be on the market next summer despite having turned down moves to stay at Leipzig back in June.

Both players have also been coveted by Arsenal, though, so Chelsea would have to put the legwork in to get either transfer over the line.
