Chelsea Confident They Can Secure Next Signing For ‘Significantly Less’ Than £50M Asking Price

Chelsea believe they have a very strong negotiating position in talks with Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho, according to reports.

The Red Devils are hoping to raise £50m from the sale of the Argentinian international but TEAMtalk claim that Enzo Maresca’s side expect to sign him for “significantly less” than that figure.

Garnacho is believed to have turned down offers from several other clubs as he is keen on making the switch to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old is aware that he doesn’t have a future at United but he has been resolute in his stance that he wants to join Chelsea.

That gives the Blues significant leverage in negotiations as they know his club don’t have the luxury of selling him to another team.

How much do Chelsea want to pay for Garnacho?

Several reports have suggested that Maresca’s side want to pay only £30m, which would be a bargain price if they do manage to secure his signature for that fee.

Of course, it’s likely that United will push for much more than that, considering their reported valuation, but the Blues hold most of the cards.

Will the club sign any other players this summer?

Chelsea have been discussing a deal with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons over the last couple of weeks, but so far no bid has been lodged for the Netherlands international.

The Bundesliga side are hoping to get at least £60m for Simons, and they are unlikely to waver on that price tag now they have sold Benjamin Sesko.

However, there is a chance of a swap deal. Christopher Nkunku is reportedly open to moving back to his old club but any player exchange may hinge on the Frenchman lowering his wage demands. He is currently earning an estimated £195,000 a week.
