Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, who is set to leave Old Trafford this summer. 

The Blues are looking to add another winger in order to replace Noni Madueke, who has joined Arsenal on a five-year deal. Madueke played as a right winger for the Blues, and will need replacing, because he scored seven goals and provided three assists in the Premier League last year.

Alejandro Garnacho is the most likely replacement, with reports saying that Chelsea and United are in talks over a deal. as the Argentine was told by Manchester United that he would need to leave Old Trafford this summer. He fell out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim.

However, the winger is expected to cost around £40m, and so Chelsea could consider alternatives that could prove to be cheaper than the 20-year-old. We found three using Data MB’s Player Comparison Tool.

Gabri Martinez – Braga

Firstly, we have Braga winger Martinez, who like Garnacho, is young (22) and full of potential. However, he is expected to command a significantly lower fee.

Last year, the Spanish winger made 30 league appearances for the Portuguese side, scoring four goals, and two assists.

He matches up to Garnacho in terms of his passing, crossing, and assisting numbers. He also scored better than the Man United star in his dribbling success too. He has a market value of £3.4m and could prove to be a bargain.

Kaoru Mitoma – Brighton

Our second choice will be a similar price to Garnacho, but the difference is, Mitoma is more proven, he is more experienced, and he is much more mature than the Man United star.

Mitoma made 41 appearances for Brighton, scoring 11 goals, and providing four assists. His numbers match up well to Madueke, and in terms of Garnacho, he scored better on assists, crosses, ball carrying and non-penalty goals.

The Japanese international has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal, but seeing as they have opted for Madueke, it might mean he’s free for Chelsea to sign.

Alfon Gonzalez – Sevilla

The third player that matched up to Garnacho is Sevilla winger Alfon Gonzalez, who made 29 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals, and providing five assists.

Gonzalez, 26, scored better than the Man United winger in several categories, including dribbling, non-penalty goals and assists.

He has a much cheaper market value too, with it estimated to be just £4.3m. He would be a fantastic depth option for Enzo Maresca.
