Chelsea are reportedly plotting a summer move to sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The 26-year-old keeper joined the Saints at the start of the season for a fee which could be worth up to £25 million after the season is over.
He lost his starting spot at Arsenal to David Raya, who they had on loan from Brentford last season, and since left in the hunt of more regular game time.
Ramsdale has made 19 Premier League appearances this season for Southampton, who look destined for relegation. Chelsea beat them 4-0 in their last game, in what was a comfortable win for Enzo Maresca‘s side.
However, the Blues have struggled with goalkeepers this season, as both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have made repeated mistakes, costing Chelsea vital goals, and points in their hunt for a Champions League spot.
They are expected to sign a keeper in the summer transfer window, and according to the Sun via 3 Added Minutes, Chelsea are keen on Ramsdale, who has a relegation clause in his contract should the Saints face the drop this year.
It is not understood as t0o how much the clause amounts to, but it would likely be less than his £25 million summer transfer price, meaning the Blues could bag themselves a bargain with the England international.
Chelsea also targeting Liverpool and Dortmund keepers
Ramsdale isn’t the only goalkeeper who has been linked to Chelsea in recent weeks, as Liverpool stopper Caoimhin Kelleher has also been linked. He has been playing a back up role to Alisson at Anfield.
Kelleher is expected to leave as the Reds signed Valencia keeper Giorgo Marmardashvilli in the summer; he will join at the end of the season.
The Blues have also been linked with signing Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who would be the most expensive of the three.
Reports said that Chelsea would be willing to pay up to £58 million for the Swiss international, who is the first-choice keeper at Dortmund.
