After signing Mohamed Salah who is just 21, the Portuguese manager seems interested in placing a bid for Hamburger SV’s Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish midfielder who is considered among the revelations of the season in the Bundesliga, is according to talkSPORT being eyed by Chelsea who will have to fight off Liverpool and Leverkusen in order to bring the midfielder to London.

Apparently, Calhanoglu’s performances since returning from his loan with Karlsruher have really caught the eye of many scouts. The German born, Turkish international may be interested in a move despite signing a new deal just a few months back. He has extended his deal for another 4 years which means he should be playing for Hamburg until 2018. Even so, his current club may face relegation which would be a step back for the 20 year old midfielder. Rumors have it, Chelsea could also have to top bids coming from Madrid. Both Atletico and Real seem keen on taking advantage of Hamburg’s unfortunate season.

Despite the fact that Calhanoglu’s agent declared his player is not looking to move, a £10 million offer might be enough to change the youngster’s mind. When asked about a possible transfer, agent Bektas Demirtas only mentioned Leverkusen as a possibility. He also mentioned the fact that the Turkish international is interested in playing in next year’s Champions League. This could be an advantage for Chelsea who have always made it through the final stages of both major European competitions.
