Chelsea Told To Pay 44M If They Want To Sign “Talented” Eredivisie Ace This Month

Chelsea will have to match the £44m Liverpool paid for Cody Gakpo if they want to secure the signature of PSV winger Noni Madueke, according to Eindhovens Dagblad reporter Rik Elfrink.

The Dutch journalist says the Blues are interested in snapping up the England Under 21 international but PSV have slapped a sizeable price tag on the player:

Madueke came through Crystal Palace and Tottenham’s academies before making the switch to PSV in 2018. The forward subsequently made his first team debut for the Eredivisie side against VVV Venlo in January 2020 and he has gone on to make 79 appearances at senior level.

The 20-year-old is undoubtedly a very promising young player; something that was recognised by Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers when the Foxes faced PSV in the Europa Conference League last year:

“He’s a talented player, he’s physically very good, he’s got a nice left foot, he’s dynamic, he wants to run in behind…”

Whether Chelsea would be prepared to pay such a high fee for Madueke, considering his lack of experience, though, it remains to be seen.
