Chelsea To Sign Serie A Defender

It`s still going to be a long season for Chelsea even though they are not involved in any European competitions, they will want to make fans forget last season by claiming at least one trophy by June 2017. Conte’s current starting eleven looks amazing but unfortunately there are some gaps in the defense that need to be filled. Terry, regardless of how fit he may be, is a bit of a gamble at this point in time. It’s hard to predict how he will manage a whole season at his age. It is also hard to predict how Zouma will perform when he returns given the horrendous injury he suffered. While there is no doubt Cahill will be the center-back to lean on this year, who will play alongside him in case Terry needs to spend some time recovering. Miazga seems decent but may not yet have reached the level needed to handle games against adversaries like Arsenal, City, United or Liverpool.

With that in mind, it is very likely that by the end of the month, a new center-back will be registered to play at Stamford Bridge. The focus could be on Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly who has been linked to Chelsea several times this summer. There are split opinions regarding the 25-year-old and his current situation. Some say Napoli will never let him leave after cashing in on Hiuguain while others say the Serie A side are looking to rebuild and change things up a bit by selling for big money. It`s hard to figure out what will happen especially with how crazy this transfer window has been up until now. Seeing teams like Manchester United and City spend as much as they have could make some think Chelsea will not sit and watch thus paying as much as needed to secure Koulibaly.

According to Metro, Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic might be on the move. Why is this important? Because, apparently he was on his way to Napoli but it turns out he may in fact be a target for the Blues after Torino blocked his proposed move to Napoli. So Chelsea may in fact move in and purchase the player (Maksimovic) from Torino who Napoli had lined up to replace Koulibaly. Confusing isn’t it?
