Chelsea To Offer Courtois New Long-Term Deal

Chelsea To Offer Courtois New Long-Term Deal

The 22-year-old Thibaut Courtois has just two years remaining on his current contract and manager Jose Mourinho is keen to secure the long-term future of his new number one goalie.

Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at Spanish club Atletico Madrid and helped them win the Europa League and also La Liga last season. His impressive form saw many label him as one of the world’s best short-stoppers and he has replicated that form so far at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian is currently earning only £30,000 per week and he is expected to get a hefty raise. With Courtois firmly established as Chelsea’s number one, and Petr Cech relegated to the bench, Mourinho is ready to offer him a new five-year contract to secure his long-term future at the club, according to the Daily Mail.

Cesar Azpilicueta has recently agreed a new five-year deal at the club and Courtois could follow suit by penning a new contract since he is very much the first-choice goalkeeper at the club.
