Chelsea To Miss Out On Yet Another Striker

After missing out on Radamel Falcao who left Atletico to join Monaco, Chelsea seem to have directed their attention towards yet another one of the Spanish side’s star strikers. Diego Costa who after having amazing seasons has been repeatedly linked to the Blues during the last two transfer windows.

Despite the great relationship between Chelsea and Atletico who both benefited from their loan agreement involving Thibaut Courtois, things however are not clear when it comes to Costa. According to the Daily Express, the Spanish side’s officials have deterred several significant Premier League clubs from pursuing the striker when it comes to a possible transfer including Chelsea.

The 25 year old center forward would be a great addition to Mourinho’s team considering the fact that even the Portuguese manager admitted Chelsea lack fire power. Unfortunately for the Blues, the Brazilian born striker was among the few world class options the Blues had at the end of this season. With Falcao out for a really long time and with Rooney having signed a long-term deal to stay with Manchester United, there is not a lot to choose from.

Potentially buying Costa was hard enough even without Enrique Cerezo’s opposition. Atletico’s president recently insisted that Costa is not for sale and that the club is no longer in the same position they were back when they decided to sell Falcao, thus suggesting that money is not a such a concern anymore.

Hopefully for Chelsea who are in desperate need of an impact striker such as Costa, Atletico will reconsider after the end of the season. With the club from Madrid still involved in the Champions League and the title race for the Primera Division, it was very unlikely that they would admit to taking into consideration a possible future deal with the Blues.
