Chelsea To Loan Talented Young Brazilian To Inter

Wallace Oliveira Dos Santos, the Brazil international joined Chelsea in this year’s January transfer window but was immediately loaned out to his Brazilian boyhood club Fluminese. The 19-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer to travel with the first-team squad for the Blues’ pre-season tour to Asia.

Chelsea already have the impressive Azpilicueta as their first-choice right-back and even central defender Ivanovic has had success in that position in previous years. With Wallace just a teenager, Blues manager Jose Mourinho realizes that the youngster needs to go out on loan to experience some first-team football.

The full-back has obvious talent which was evident during his assured displays during Chelsea’s pre-season matches. He can also bomb on forward and create openings for his teammates, which was evident when he won the penalty on his debut against Singha All Stars which was duly dispatched by Lukaku as Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners.

However, Wallace may find it difficult to gain playing time at the Bridge and Mourinho, realising the youngster needs to be playing regularly to continue his development, has already announced his intention of sending the defender out on loan.

Wallace’s agent, Frederico Moraes, had last week stated that a loan deal to Inter Milan was a possibility. And according to ESPN, the deal is to go through since Moraes has revealed that a deal for his client to Milan is nearly done and dusted.

He revealed that the Brazilian has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A club ahead of a possible season-long loan switch. He said, “We are truly only a step away from completing the deal. We are really only a few details away from the transfer.”

He added, “At this point, if all goes well, he should meet up with the team in the United States. We were told it was a straight loan but the teams are discussing those terms. Inter have already agreed terms with the player. There’s no problem.”

The Nerazzurri are in the market for a right-back who can fit into coach Walter Mazzarri’s 3-5-2 system and have identified a deal for Wallace after missing out on Napoli’s Juan Zuniga.

It shows the depth of talent in the Chelsea squad when they are loaning a player to Inter Milan rather than a Championship team for example. We look forward to seeing more of Wallace in due course.
