Chelsea To Extend Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s Contract

The Blues will be looking to avoid situations similar to that of Matic who was brought back after being deemed unsuitable for the club’s immediate expectations back during his first spell with the club. According to the Daily Mail, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is currently one of the most promising youngsters actually with his parent club at the moment and looks likely to be a strong candidate for Mourinho to bring into the first team squad over the next few years. The 19 year old who has already made his senior debut, is under contract until 2017. Chelsea will be looking to extend that deal and turn the U19 England international into a strong competitor who can help Matic step up his game.

Loftus-Cheek is now waiting to sit down with Mourinho who looks determined to do whatever it takes to convince the 19 year old to stay in London. Being so appreciated by the Portuguese boss means a lot given the fact that the Blues have the most players out on loan in all of Europe. Giving a young midfielder a chance like this must mean that the club’s decision makers think he is going to be big player for Chelsea.

The midfielder could still make a few appearance before the end of the season. He already starred in a Champions League game and also in a Premier League clash. If Mourinho’s side secures the title earlier in the season, it is very likely to see Loftus-Cheek replacing Matic every once in a while. It will definitely be a challenge for the youngster to compete with the Serbian who has proven to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the world so it will be a case of Loftus-Cheek learning from Matic while he pushes the senior player to keep up his high level of performances.
