Chelsea To Expect Fine Due To Mourinho’s Recent Behavior

Mourinho is risking a fine after refusing to stay for the post match conference which should have taken place after the game with Newcastle with him in attendance. The Portuguese boss sent the first team coach to speak with the press, which is what got the FA to start looking into the situation. Chelsea’s manager was already under the spotlight after declaring that his team is treated differently by referees and that campaigns are led in order for the officials to influence the games. According to the Telegraph, this sort of statement was treated as inappropriate and malicious due to the fact that it challenged the integrity of all those who referee as those who do officiate should be completely impartial during Premier League matches.

The first strike for the boss refers to his comments regarding the campaign led against Chelsea may not be a strike though. The FA will have a hard time proving that Mourinho actually did something wrong mostly because his defense is that he is just part of a general debate which happens to include his club. The second thing for which he is being accused is more difficult to dodge though as the FA and the TV association clearly state that the manager is obligated to attend the post-match conference. The Portuguese boss not only disagrees with this practice but also condemns the fact that players are also obligated to make post match appearances especially if they were on the pitch from the start. Given the circumstances, it is very likely that Mourinho will have to pay up as per the current agreement between the FA and TV stations around the world.
