Chelsea To Drop Transfer Deal Due To Injury

According to Metro, Chelsea are planning to drop their interest in Paris St. Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot temporarily due to the player picking up a serious injury in the club’s midweek game against Bordeaux, where the Blues were represented in crowd.

Jose Mourinho will be delighted with Sunday’s 3-1 victory against Manchester United, signifying the gap that has opened up between the Red Devils and the rest of the top clubs. The fixture also marked the return of Nemanja Matic, who made his second debut for the club after joining the Blues for a fee of £20 million.

Paris St. Germain have had a major foreign investment in the recent past, and now possess an arsenal of strikers like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi. The midfield has the likes of Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore and Marco Verratti. Even with these players in the squad, 18-year old Rabiot has made a mark in the first team. The Frenchman was part of the Manchester City youth setup in 2008, but made his name at Paris, where he was given a professional contract.

Mourinho has been trying to build a youthful side, and already has gems in Eden Hazard and Oscar. Rabiot damaged his medial knee ligaments, and could be out for a few months. This has prompted Chelsea to delay his deal, and ensure that they sign a fit player in the summer.
