Chelsea To Deny Luiz Chance Of Joining Barca

According to Metro, Mourinho is not willing to let Luiz leave for Barcelona despite the fact that the Brazilian has mainly been a substitute this season. The Catalan’s interest in Chelsea’s defender is not new as the Spaniards have been interested in securing his signature even since the beginning of the summer.

The 26 year old moved to London in 2011 and was seen as the perfect player to take on the captain’s band in the long term after impressing last season. Despite his obvious qualities and despite the fact that he quickly became a team regular, Mourinho did not see in him an option for his first eleven. Luiz’s situation was and still is just as awkward as Mata’s. Both shined under Benitez but have fallen short when it comes to impressing the Portuguese manager.

With the World Cup soon approaching, Luiz is definitely facing a delicate situation. Even with his talent, it is hard to believe he will make it home with his national team if he does not get enough on pitch time. Moving to Barcelona will not guarantee a spot in the starting line-up but will surely improve his chances to get to Brazil.

Luiz is valued at about 30 million pounds which is an excellent asking price for a player of his value. Barcelona need a player of his profile to help Pique who has been the only constant defender in the Catalan’s team for the past 2 years.

In recent declarations Mourinho insisted the Brazilian will stay with Chelsea despite the rumors around the club. The Portuguese manager even hinted towards the fact that Cahill will no longer pair up with Terry and Luiz will take his place.

Mourinho has insisted that no changes will come during January in the squad. The Blues will not let anyone leave or transfer any new players for that matter.
