After Costa completed his medical at Stamford Bridge, rumors have emerged according to which, the Brazilian born, Spanish international may have been part of a more complex deal. According to the Mirror things did not go down as expected. Most experts said that Courtois will be a key piece in bringing Costa to London. Apparently they were wrong as the Belgian returned for good to Stamford Bridge. In an unexpected turn of events, Lukaku is the one who lowered Costa’s price just enough to allow Mourinho to sign the 25 year old striker.

Despite receiving an £18million offer from Valencia, Chelsea look set on sending Lukaku to Madrid. Maintaining a good relationship with the Spanish side is in Mourinho’s interest especially since Costa is not his only target. Full-back Filipe Luiz is also a target for the Blues who will have to spend big in order to sign both players.

All will be revealed at the end of the World Cup when most of the important moves will go down. It is very likely that Lukaku’s value will increase after Belgium start their campaign. They are currently fifth in line to secure the trophy which means all eyes will be on the Belgian internationals.
