Chelsea To Confirm Falcao Move This Week

According to various sources in both France and England, AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has agreed personal terms with Chelsea, and his transfer to the Premier League champions could be confirmed by the end of this week.

French newspaper L’Equipe claim that the deal to bring the Falcao to Stamford Bridge is nearing completion, and the deal may well be announced within just days.

It has been said that Chelsea’s plan to sign Falcao will be under similar pretenses to how Manchester United conducted the deal last summer. The plan is to sign Falcao on a one-year loan deal, with the option of making a permanent purchase when the contract expires. A much safer option, but surely something Monaco would protest given that the players value come 2016 will be much lower. However, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho feels that a temporary agreement is the wisest option given the forward’s poor form at Old Trafford last season.

The Sunday Times reported that the 29-year-old Colombian has agreed personal terms with Chelsea and the striker was eager for Mourinho to confirm what role he would have in the squad. Mourinho has likely assured Falcao that his game time will be much greater than he endured at United.

Jose Mourinho came out publicly to admit his desire to help Falcao rediscover his form, something which suggests the Portuguese manager is ready to strike a deal with the forward. The west London club are definitely on the look out for forward players, after parting ways with Didier Drogba following the expiration of his one-year deal. Loic Remy is also expected to leave Stamford Bridge.
