Chelsea To Close New Deal With Atletico

The Brazilian left-back, Filipe Luis has been on Mourinho’s radar for a while now and has even refused contract renewal negotiations with Atletico in order to make his way to West London. After the Spanish side first dismissed any possible negotiations with Chelsea over the player, things seem to have changed over the past few days. According to the Daily Mail, the 28 year old defender is just days away from re-joining former team mate Diego Costa. With Ashley Cole leaving for Roma and with Azpilicueta being considered too good on the right side to be played out of position for yet another year, Luis is the perfect transfer to make.

In recent news it seemed that Chelsea were unwilling to pay the £20million buy-out clause which would have made Luis their player for the next couple of years. With negotiations between the player and Atletico not going anywhere, the Blues looked interested in lowering the player’s price.

If the Blues manage to sign Luis it would bring their transfer count to three important players which will have cost the club over £110million. After missing out on last year’s trophies, Chelsea are determined to create their best team yet. A left-back and probably one or two defenders are who’s missing from Mourinho’s squad. Hopefully for Chelsea’s sake, Luis will arrive at Stamford Bridge as soon as possible as the Premier League is only a few weeks away.
